Our new home

We have been working on getting our home started. Robert keeps saying, "We will start on the house as soon as crops are in." Then he gets a chance to get more feed, so we wait.
The well drillers finished drilling our well Friday Nov 5th. They told Robert they were surprised at how good our water was, cold and clear. We are excited about that, now we need to dig waterlines into the barn and corrals. We did get a letter from the Division of Water Resources that our application had been protested. We need to do a few things then hopefully we can use our well soon.
Our contractor gave us a tote full of floor plans, none of which we liked. He had us go to his son, to have him draw up some plans for us. He sent us an email with all the things we wanted in our home. We loved it!! We will have to see if we want to make any changes.
So life has been pretty good for us. This has been a very busy time at the barn, we now have 21 calves in the hutches. We are milking 56 cows with I think around 20 dry cows ready to calf. I have a hard time remembering how many cows that we have, cause all I do at the barn is milk. Robert asked me the other day how many cows we are milking, I told him I wasn't sure, I just milk until they quit coming in.

Getting in shape!

After workingout at the gym for the last three days---all I can say is Aggh! I have felt muscles that I forgot that I had. I am excited to see results, just wish it wouldn't take so long. Ruby and I signed up to go to the gym, her dr said she needed to lose weight and my dr (me) said I needed to too.(Ruby is Rick and Tara's foster daughter) Ruby and I are planning on hitting the gym 3 days a week...well that is our plan.

Someone new to look up to!

I have seen this coming for quite awhile now. It was even predicted to me by my dear husband. He said, after calculating the grow marks on the doorway at the barn,"By Christmas!" At Thanksgiving, we measured, nope not yet. Then at Christmas, I was just standing there and Koby came up beside me(I thought that he liked standing beside me, but he was just measuring) and everyone started giggling. Becky ran to get the camera to prove to me that it had happened.
I get teased a lot about being short, up until now I could say that I was taller than my grandkids. Koby passed me up, not by much, but he is now taller than I am.
Koby I want you to know that I am proud to look up to you. Even when I was taller than you, I looked up to you. You have been a good example to me. You are kind and caring, and always looking for the good in others.

Spring is on the way!

I can't believe that January is almost over and I haven't blogged for 2 months, what a slacker. I am so far behind. Life has been great, but way crazy.
Our dream for many years has been to have a home, farm and dairy all together. Well we are seeing our dreams beginning to come true. We are buying the farm and dairy, and we are looking at starting to build our new home in the fall. We are so excited, but we are almost afraid to talk about it. We keep making plans, but only share them with each other. I guess that is good!
We both have spring fever! We want to get out and start doing things on our own property. We can finally start making some of the improvements that have needed to be done.
Last night, is a good example of spring fever, or just craziness, Robert was excited that our milk went up. He usually checks where our milk is just before we go home at night. We got in the dodge to go home. Although it was dark I caught a glimpse of a twinkle in his eye. As we left the corrals behind, he started racing the engine and spun a donut. We went all the way around before we came to a stop. We looked in front of us and saw all the plywood, and the new toilet seat, that had been in the back of his truck, laying on the snow in front of us. That was way too funny, what a kid.
